Fall In Love With Old Cape Cod

1950's:
Classiness was still relevant, a thing that every woman strived for.
The fashions were timeless, and everything seemed to have a wholesome, sunny, air to it.

This summer, I'm trying to bring back that way of style especially to the beach where sometimes "class" is a very much forgotten term.

Living on cape, I have seen my share of swimwear horror stories.
To put it nicely, some people are just not meant to wear itty-bitty bikinis and speedos.

However everyone can look elegant, even at the beach!
I looked to fashion icon Taylor Swift who last year, summered with the Kennedy's on Cape Cod (MY DREAM). She kept it chic and simple with a red polka-dot, high-waisted, 2 piece and a navy polka-dot one piece. She even dressed it up a bit with a red lip.

Inspired by this this look, I put my own twist on vintage beach fashion!

rouge à lèvres

Elizabeth Taylor was right,
lipstick does make life so much better!

Let's put it this way, if I was stuck on a desert island with only 3 possessions I would bring: food, water, and lipstick! A couple of years ago I discovered lipstick. It used to be the intimidating red makeup that I knew I could never pull off! But then I decided to be daring and try it! As a scanned the makeup isle, I learned that lipstick did not just come in bold reds, but in nudes, pinks, corals, and even blue (however I would not recommend it). My first lipstick was a inexpensive tube of coral and I fell in love instantly! Soon enough I was buying all the shades they had to offer and I felt naked leaving the house without it!

But there will always be the age old question:

"To match my lipstick and nail polish or not to match my lipstick and nail polish? That is the question."

However, while on Pinterest, I found a great great guide to matching lipstick and nail polish. I am obsessed with the combinations and can't wait to try them out!

The Eclecticist

Ever since we were 2 years old playing on the playground, GianPaula has been a person of style! She has always owned a unique and eclectic wardrobe. She was the one who introduced me to the wonders of thrift shopping, urban outfitters, and all the fashion blogs that I am now obsessed with. But what makes her style so admirable, is its sense of effortlessness. She wears what she likes, and doesn't seem to stress about what others may think. And that to me, is the definition of style!

I encourage you all to take this mantra with you as you are picking out tomorrow's outfit:

"Wear what you like, not what other think you should like."

Always,  Miss C

Wanderlust

This spring break has been full of surprises and last minute adventures! As you may know from my earlier post, I was due to head south for a sun filled week at Myrtle Beach, SC. However, as it usually does, life had a different plan! I then exchanged my ticket for a quiet week at home on snowy Cape Cod.

But then-
My best friend Margaret gave me a call asking if I wanted to take a last minute trip to Arizona. I was very unsure, for I have never been the adventurous type and always scheduled things weeks in advance. But something inside me said, I should go! Who could deny some pool side time with your best friend? We booked our tickets the night before leaving, and were Phoenix bound in the morning!

This past week was a great escape from the dull school routine and bitter cold weather. This vacation taught me that spontaneity is what makes life wonderful and adventure is what makes memories that last a life time.

Always, Miss. C

When the weather is so hot, it is hard to have a fabulous outfit without suffering from heat stroke. But Margaret worked it perfectly with her flowy floral skirt, sheer plum blouse, Ralph Lauren loafers, and Coach Joelle sunglasses
