black friday haul 2013 : sephora

lindsey did some damage this week guys, and by some i mean a ton.  haha, lets start with i went black friday shopping. and i somehow found myself in sephora just glancing on the shelves... glancing soon turned into some shopping. 
so i really didnt go overboard with the amount of stuff i got, but i did spend a pretty penny for some of it! haha hope you all enjoy! and i hope to do a review of the products soon. 

so the first thing i picked up was the tarte trio pack of the tarte of giving. this pack was about $10 on a black friday special at sephora. i haven't used any of these products yet but i am really excited to do so!

after picking up the tarte mini pack i remembered there was something i wanted, no needed to get and it was this beautifulness. the too faced a few of my favorite things palette.

guys, this palette can not be put into words other than sheer perfection. i picked up this bad by for $56 and it was the last one in my store ( haha...sorry, i just had to ). the palate came with two little samples of their products, the too faced better than sex mascara and the too faced lip injection color bomb “bee sting”, which was a limited edition lip injection for this palate. 

ohmygoid you guys all the eyeshadows are very amazing quality, they are highly pigmented, and easy to blend together! i also love love love the names of the colors, they are just like the sound of music!

lindsey's life update : november

so as you all could tell i have been mia (whuddashocker) since well november 4th. so instead of skipping over all the reasons why i have been not posting, im actually going to post them and do a huge post about what has happened and where i have been since, well novmber 4th
:: i have no clue where to start, so why not start with hmm my NYC trip :: sooo about the first weekend in november my butt was shipped (well i took a train) up to NYC for the weekend to visit the best : alanna. and we can not of corse forget : jack, drew, lilly & jaelen. i also got to catch up with my family which was awesome because i hadn't seen them in a while! i had such a blast shopping and hanging out with my new york city friends. when i left i like missed them so much i was about to turn around and just stay forever but i had something very special coming up... 

:: next on the menu is formal :: so as some of you may know, i am in a sorority at school and i am currently the social chair, meaning that i plan all the social events, dinners, parties, mixers and of corse our formal. this year our formal took place on november 9 at LiLlies resturant & bar. okay, im not gonna say this was the easiest thing to plan, because if i did, well i would probably be lying. but i can tell you it was for sure the funest one! the theme was the great gatsby and i got my final dress from macy's, it was an adrianna papell (mind you this isn't the EXACT dress)  and was on sale for like $79. dirt cheap, and when i was shopping with my friend erin for her dress, we apssed it and i was like this is the dress. so i tried it on and well the rest is history. i got my hair done that day at dry bar, and oh my god you guys, click this link to see how amazing it was. all i can say/ask is, when am i going back there!? soo to sum it all up, the party was amazing, it was such a huge success and so much fun, definitely a night that i will never forget! 

:: cheers to the adg initiation :: about a weekend or two later, my friends and i celebrated the initiation of the new brothers of alpha delta gamma. i was really torn in-between staying in bed and going out to this, but as you can tell i went. i came over to my friends, ali, lauren & stefana's room and braugh all the wrong things. i brought casual, but this was not casual apparently haha it was nice attire. soooo i invaded their closests and their hairspray and withing about 30 min (record time) i was finally ready 

:: cutting into the emergency room :: well about two weeks ago, lindsey thought it would be a swell idea to just pick up an exacto knife and just start a project. well yeah, the project was doing great, and it actually turned out amazing, but i didnt realize the blade was toward my finger and well ya know, i sorta kinda cut my finger open. thank god to my friend mk and marina for coming over and helping and for marina who drove me to the hospital and waited with me for what seemed to be hours. the outcome - a glued shut finger.

halloween tutorials : the little mermaid

happy (almost) halloween to all my witches and ghouls. for the remainder of this week it will be halloween diy tutorials gallor! also feel free to check out my youtube channel, where there will be some diy video's you can follow along to! xx  (btw this is my actual halloween costume this year lol)
so i made about half of my costume, yes made it!! haha i was determined to make a tutu since my friend mary kate has talked about it, so i did it!! it took a lil bit of time and patience, but it all worked out.  below are the supplies that you will need for making your puuurfect tutu.

your gonna need :

- tulle - 

i got mine from an etsy shop, and did have to get some more, just because i wanted it to have volume.

- grosgrain ribbon - 

again got this off of etsy for me and my friend, so i got a ton of extra. i got it in mint green though.

- stretch elastic - 

again another etsy purchase. what a shocker haha, i got to much of this, but its in the mint color again.

- sewing kit - 

this is my new best friend, i got mine from joannes, but all you need is a needle and thread and scissors.

i dont actually have any picutres of me making this, but i do have videos of it, which i could post, just let me know. but click here on how to make a tutu. it really helped me and came out amazing! 

my hair was one of my main focus' for this costume, i really wanted to do her signature hair, but i was not gonna die my hair red and not gonna pend a bagillion dolars on a wig lol! so i went for a grecian/realistic mermaid kind of look. i found this tutorial on pintrest, so feel free to check it out! 

but here is how i did it

your gonna need : 

- a hairbrush -

mine is just my simple conair hairbrush, which you can get from a drugstore or anywhere lol

- hairspriay -

you can literally use any hairspray that has a firm stick to it, i just love the tresemme hairspray ;)

- curling wand -

i used my conair curling wand because i love it so so so much, but you can use any curing wand for it

- bobby pins-

you absolutely need these to hold your hair together and up

- starfish hair clip -

this is just an extra thing that completed this look and made it more mermaidian haha 

sooo i just used my hair from today which was half curly half messy. it was a lazy day especially because i woke up about fifteen minutes before class haha. so here is how i did my hair : 

( 1 ) so i took two pieces of my hair, one on the left and one on the right and i braided those just a normal braid and let them drop so i could do my next part.

( 2 ) then i sectioned off hair from the front crown of my head and sectioned those into four parts and tease each section.

( 3 ) i used my regular hairbrush for it, but i would highly recommend using a teasing comb, only if you have one to use. you can get one at your local drug store! 

( 4 ) after getting this puffy disaster all together, i took my brush and then i gently smoothed out my hair 

( 5 ) then take the two braids and pull them tightly back so the crown of your hair has volume to it, like a snooki poof, but not all that snooki haha

( 6 ) then i took those two and bobby pinned those tightly to my head so that i could ensure that they would not drop or fall. 

( 7 ) so as i said, my hair was about half curled so i took my infinity curling wand and curled my hair, like i do almost everyday

( 8 ) after finishing that i took my starfish hair clip, that i made with a dried up starfish, a barette and some hot glue and covered my bobby pins with that to give it more of a mermaid vibe.

so this was the finished look, i did very basic and neutral makeup, but you could totally mermaid glam it up, but i wanted to stick with a more neutral vibe! i hope you enjoy this post and i cant wait to make a few more before all the ghouls and the goblins come out, or before you go out to a halloween party!! xx

19 wishes!

if you dont know already, today is (or was) my nineteenth birthday! it was such a different birthday, it was my first grown up birthday. by this i mean i didnt see my parents. wow, yes im a baby. it was totally different and didnt feel like it until about five minutes ago.  last night i had a ton of fun at our fondue fest sleep over!! and today i had so much fun at my surprise brunch. i really appreciate everything everyone did for me to make my day that much more special! so from this birthday forward i will be posting/writing them down my birthday wishes. this might sound weird, but they are my resolutions for the year and for myself in a sense! today i realized that not everything is perfect or goes according to plan, life has its ups and downs, but no matter what you should live your life to the fullest and be greatful for everything you have. i hope you are all inspired by this and tell me what your wishes are for yourself and the world.
one :  live life for myself. dont hold up to soneone else's standards.   two :  try to pray almost everyday.   three : don't be afraid to just have a me day. get pampered, go shopping, have fun!   four : focus on whats important.   five :  call my relatives once in a while.   six :  write letters to people instead of always texting them, do it at least once a month.    seven :  take risks and take a chance on life, everything happens for a reason.   eight : be responsible.   nine : try to go to church on sundays   ten :  try your hardest at everything you do.   eleven :  look at the positive things instead of the negatives.    twelve : do some community service.   thirteen :  save money for one specific thing, maybe some nice shoes or a bag ;)   fourteen : try out for new clubs or audition for a show or even crew.    fifteen :  go to see the ballet when you are in a low place.   sixteen : make someone else proud.   seventeen :  do laundry every thursday, but do it tomorrow because you need to lol.   eighteen : explore what the world has to offer.   nineteen:  never take anything for granted.
