pamper yourself

this week has been a ton of fun. finished my first week of early mornings and late nights, but prepare yourself for some more of those; starting again in about well two days. last night some chika's stayed over and we had a ton of fun doing a 'classic girls sleep over' lol jk. we were #woppin.
today was a ton of fun! alanna and i went into the city with last minute plans! besides it being so much fun, it was sweltering hot. i was going to strangle someone (and i thought rehersals made me sweat....) today was the wost day humidity wise in ol' nyc. with a ton of walking done and a long day i finally got home with about three bags filled with goodies. one of those bas being a lush bag!
i was introduced to lush by miss alanna herself about two years ago when we spent the summer in scotland.

the products that i chose at the store were as follow (descriptions taken from lush) :
the twilight bath bomb : Recreate the magic of a starry night in your bath water with clouds of lavender and tonka absolute to fight the demons of insomnia and soothe your stressed out body and mind. Our most relaxing Bath Bomb yet, Twilight is our gentle, reassuring hug for the bath to transform you from worn out to warm and fuzzy. It changes color like the sky at dusk, from pinks to purples and darker still. Lay back in the comforting herbal waters to soak your troubles far, far away.
floating island : Escape to your own fragrant island and float away to the scent of vanilla, sandalwood and lemon foam to calm a weary mind and restless body. Now, technically, islands don’t melt, but you’ll be absolutely floating after submerging yourself in the tub with our luxurious, slow-melting, fizzy bath melt. Helen combined creamy cocoa butter with our signature Bath Bomb mixture to create a fizzing bath melt that would melt very slowly in the water, allowing you to lie back and really enjoy the beauty of the experience. Slip away to an island of luxury.
a french kiss : There are a few ways one can French kiss. At lush we like to keep it clean by French Kiss-ing in a luxurious bubble bath. (If you like it Dirty we suggest you have a shower.) The fresh herbal fragrances of lavender, rosemary and thyme with essential oils from the hills of sun-soaked Provence go into our swirly love letter inspired by the warmth and beauty of the French countryside. It's even topped with a sprig of lavender. Lay back and relax into serene purple waters and soak up all of its relaxing benefits.
i put them all in the bath together to make a lush cocktail
(or so thats what the man who helped me called it!) it smelled so good and looked purdy too!
i also put on my face mask that helps clean out my pores. i love this mask so much, it smells great and the sea foam color really brings out my inner monster face hahaha! i also used the lush ocean salt to clean off my face and to soften my skin.
lastly i added two of my favorite candles and wellah a perfect way to pamper yourself!

in the office

today was finally my first day at my summer internship. wooohooo. nyc is looking bigger and brighter every moment. the best part is im working on broadway. no, not the musical theatre aspect broadway
(though i wish) im on the street. actually i am less than a block away from the freedom tower, which is pretty awesome. outside my window there is a church where i am told alexander hamilton is buried there!
this morning after coaching i was so tired and about ready to not even go. im happy i did because it gave me tons of busy work to do! i also had some down time to go over my script for the show and go over my july calendar, and ohmygawsh is that scheduled packed to the brim. i have something every day.
no joke. no break.
but as i said before sometimes its better to be busy then to be wide open all the time! i think my favorite part of today was picking out my outfit, getting lunch (i didnt have breakfast so i was starving), and most of all being able to walk outside and have the city right at my feet!

gotta keep going.

ughhh. im so tired. so exhausted. so drained
i have no clue why, well yeah i kinda sorta do... i woke up this moning at 6:26
(yes on the dot, right before my first alarm)
and i was so exicted for work and woohooed out, i was going to go to starbucks, but my mom was like, no there is gonna be a line.... sooooo i didnt. i just went straight to the pool at around :55 and got there at 7ishh. i was so happy at practice, so energetic and enthusiastic. then in the middle of it i got a slump. i thought of everything i had to do, and it was too, like wayy too overwhelming
UGH even thinking about it makes me stressed.
all i wanted to do today was sleep and just relax. but nope, when i got home my dad made a list of things for me to do during the day on my qoq (quote on quote) day off... so much of a day off. i was off to the dry cleaners, to the grocery store, to the post office, to the bank, to just about anywhere and everywhere. if you think of a place, trust me i was there today.
then as soon as i could tell it was five and i was headed home (finally) only to go straight back out to rehearsal. at home i packed a snack (some fresh raspberries and green grapes) and tons of water. then it was finally time for rehearsal!
not gonna lie i have been waiting for this day for like a month... haha and it was as good as i thought it was going to be!! exept it was hotter, seemed longer and had more moving around then i expected.
wait who am i kidding our choreographer is so intesnse it scares me, but i love her! but i mean we have another month and there is so much to do in so little time. just gotta keep the faith and gotta keep going.
tomorrow is a new day, and the start of my job in new york city. its going to be a long wild day. but i decided instead of looking at things and complaining, from now on i will just smile and remind myself that i am here. thank god i am alive and have a new opportunity everyday. if you think about it, everyday is like a new page in a book, every month is a chapter and every year is a story.
how do you want your story to be told?

live your life to the fullest of its extent and be greatful for the adventures and opportunities we have.

sally hansen gel strips : review

yesterday, in the mists of running errands, grabbing last minute things i stopped over at tjmaxx (aka the best store on earth) and picked up a sally hansen mini gel nail kit. this purchase was something i debated on for about 30 minutes, but it being half off, i just went for it.
when i got home i immedatley  unpacked everything and organized it on my desk. not going to lie i absolutely love the concept, but i did not like the color i purchased. okay it looks like such a beautiful color, just about comparable to essie ballet flats, but alas i was wrong. i put a strip on and noticed its sheer pink color, i just shrugged it off and thought the color would become more intense after the backlight. so i applied the strip on my thumb and as the directions said, i removed all the access strip and fit it to my nail. after this i applied the gel polish, a light coat and plugged in the backlight and hit the center button and waited thirty seconds until it shut off. i pulled out my nail and it was even more opaque! i knew i needed my nails done for tonight and it took too long to have regular nail polish. so i went to the store and purchased a new color. (of corse)
i purchased quite the opposite color, bat on the black; this color is very much comparable to essie's wicked, but even better, opi's lincoln park after dark (my fall favorite!). this color is amazing, but the only thing is it looks like a purplish tint in some lights (which is what i wanted) and black in others. now honestly i dont know wether to call this color black or intense violet, i know the name is pat on the black, but it could be either or. also on the package it displays a purplish shine to it. another thing that dissapointed me is that the color on the package is not identical to the color of the actual strips.  but overall i absolutely loved it, loved how fast it was and how they last up to two weeks.

items included :
a charger/plug for your blacklight dryer, a mini blacklight dryer, two packs of sixteen nail strips, a filer and a cuticle stick, two nail cleanser pads & a gel topcoat.

NY STREET STYLE; TREND ALERT

Attention Fashionistas!

Miss Lindsey always tells her that I remind her of Ariana Grande. Why? No idea. but I absolutely take that as a compliment for I adore her style! One of the trends she constantly sports are cropped tops.

According to Seventeen Magazine and many other fashion street wear sites, cropped tops are totally in for this season.

Cropped tops are adorable and brilliant for summer, for their not completely belly shirts, but are lightweight and short enough to keep you cool throughout those hot summer days. I also love the notion that these shirts can be worn with a completed outfit and are versatile enough to throw in a beach bag like a  bathing suit cover up. My favorite brands that offer these specific tops would have to be Urban Outfitters and Brandy Melville.

Contrary to popular belief, one doesn't have to match a loose cropped top with a tight bottom- in fact, I've lately been LOVING mixing cropped tops with bubble skirts, like Ariana. (skirts that simply have round volume).

Here, I've paired a cropped tshirt top from URBAN with a Brandy Melville bubble skirt. I decided to be more conservative by choosing a longer cropped top- there's no need to show off your whole stomach like Ariana per se.

Notice that the combination of the volume on top and on bottom gives great definition to my waist. So rather than looking bulky, the extra fabric actually moves to show my stomach off a bit, and this gives off an almost hourglass looking affect.

This look is a great option for all of my fellow petite ladies out there! Have fun with these shapes, cause you really don't have to play by the rules when it comes to the cropped top trend.

Enjoooooy !
Cheers, x

graduation part II : realization

after my sister came home from her moving up party tonight, we finally had a tv sister bonding moment. (that i will document and never forget.) we talked about her middle school experience, about her peers, this upcoming summer and of corse her future plans in high school!
as she pulled out her yearbook to show me everything, all of the pages and her autographs, i started to wonder what happened to my eighth grade yearbook. i know going back on middle school memories is not something i will ever look forward to, but after looking up in my bookshelf i finally found it.
five years ago i graduated from middle school. that so scary, i'm not sure wether to call myself young or old haha. but i did it, a day i will never forget. i crossed the stage in my new beautiful dress and shook the principle's hand for my eighth grade diploma. along with my diploma i got my yearbook (finally back to it) opening the pages of this ancient book was like opening an old photo album, one you weren't sure if your would tear out the pages or laugh. i smiled. i read all of my goodbyes from my friends in middle school and surprisingly i had a lot of goodbyes, tons of HAGS and many thank you's.
after browsing through that i went back and looked at my eighth grade photo. oh my gosh, for starters :

  dear old lindsey,
thank god you learned how to curl your hair & that you dont have a brace face anymore!
oh boy were these pictures crazy, even of everyone else, seeing them just made me think of their stereotypes. sadly, but truly everyone has a stereotype; some you make of your own, others you are put under. this was a thought that came up in my head as my sister and her friends graduated today. honestly i think that no matter what there will always be:
a theatre diva, a tough guy gang, some freaks, some geeks, hipsters, musicians, fake girls, spoiled brats, wanna-be's, artsy people, a guy who scared to show his other side, a shy girl, a model, a rich kid, a fashionista, and so many more.

(me ready for my eighth grade graduation...#killme)
it is scary to see the repeat of the cycle, but its just the circle of high school life.
**to those of you out there who do not know who you are in the world, or what your stereotype is. dont worry, you carve your own path, trust me when i say that you will get there soon, just do not be someone who you are not, be yourself.**
congrats to all graduating classes of 2O13, but especially to the
BMS Class Of 2O13
& of corse to my
beautiful sister jenna
. love you bitsa .

graduation part I : what i wore

today was a crazy hectic day in our house, my baby sister graduated eight grade. i know i know, it doesn't seem like a huge deal, but my baby sister is now a freshman in high school. that is so crazy to think about! she looked so grown up (and not only because i got her ready) but because she is now a living teenager. this is scary. yes very scary
unlike a few people there  i decided to dress up. *shocker* lindsey wore something nice, perhaps even above what everyone wore... or maybe not. but i did adore my outfit, keep scrollin if you want to see it
*classic lindsey pose*
for the graduation ceremony i wore a vintage dress, with eyelit shoulders and eyelit bottom. i am in love with the color of this dress, it is a rustic cream color! with the dress i wore a necklace from a boutique in new jersey. i am obsessed with this dark blue layered tear drop bead necklace.

here is what i wore on my nails, it was my first time trying to use the sally hansen gel nail strips, and i promise i will do a review on the product asap! but i love it so so solo much! can we say the new essie wicked nail color!! i think yes!
this is the bottom of my dress with my heels. can i just point out how (wet. due to the rain) and how fabulous they are!! omg these suade colbalt blue pumps made my outfit. im obsessed.
close up of these bad boys ;)
might i just point out how stunning my un-edited/un-photoshopped legs look. all thanks to sally hansen, and her fabulous flawless leg airbrush spray. trust me i know i would never in a million years think this would work, but it did. and it paid off! this is one spray of the light legs!

summer's last lazy week

lately i have been feeling as if i am getting off track with everything in my life. summer is crazy, and i just realized yesterday that my only time for real "vacation" is july 4th. that is beyond crazy! i know that i have to work, and i love it! swim coaching is so much fun, love my swimmers to death!!
but honestly here is what my summer consists of:

swim team, lifeguarding, working in nyc during the day, suessical rehersals at night, blogging, youtubing, pintresting, garage sales, babysitting, organizing, moving, packing, regrouping, shows in july, lake george family week reunion, baithing suits, fireworks, beaches, lane lines, and jazz shoes.
if that isn't enough i am not sure what is! i know it seems as though i am complaing, but i am not. trust me on this one. this post is meerley for myself to realize what i have on my plate this summer and what portions i can divide out to benefit myself and others. along with work, and shows, i have a blog and youtube to keep up with, but above all i have emotions to keep in tact and to not forget or let go of.
this week is my last week before my crazy summer life starts. im so nervous, im not going to lie, im actually scared. and i can already feel how tired i am going to be, but bring it on! bring on the heat, bring on the sweat, the fashionable clothes, the money, the singing, the swimming and the blogging.

pearls and curls

i have decided that this summer i am taking the persona of
sounds quircky ehh? well i dont think so! it actually who i am & it sounds more regal when it is written
my hair is naturally curly, but i love getting that perfect bounce of a curl. so here in this tutorial i will show you how i achieve my summer beach everyday curls!
materials needed:
O1: a hair dryer
(i got mine at target, yes i know, why cheetah lindsey... but it's the best hair dryer i have used!!)
O2: a curling iron
(i use the conair infinity curling wand, it's my favorite hair tool & if i didnt have it idk what i would do)
O3: a hair brush
(mine is the wet brush, the best brush to use on wet hair, got this on amazon)
O4: a hair tie
(i just grab whatever is in the drawer)
lets get curlin:
step one :
i tend to start off my day with a shower, makes me feel cleaner and gets all the bad oil out of my hair. after showering, shampooing and conditioning i let my hair sit out for about 10 minutes and then get to some of the heat tools. i blow dry my hair first, which tends to take about ten minutes to be completely dry. as you can see in the picture on the left, my hair is voluminous and straight. time to wand!

step two :
i set my curling want to the highest heat and leave it for about a minute until it is fully heated. then i go ahead and curl my hair : i section my hair in two sections, then divide those two sections into two more sections, one on the left on on the right, then pick up various peices of hair and curl away. i keep the hair on the curler for about 30 seconds and get a beautiful curl.

half head of curled hair versus full head of curled hair.
(right side is finished product!)

drug store mini haul

lately, i have been putting the breaks on shopping. (yes i know this is a huge shocker to all, including myself!) but today i allowed myself to go to cvs not only to pick up some new and fabulous magazines but to also purchase a few items that i have been needing and that i have wanted to try.
   pictured above :

01 - scunci clips : i have been in need of these clips so badly!! i have endless bobby pins and too many barrett clips, but since i left all my bow in DC (i know i cried too....) i have decided to pull my hair back in one of these no slip, tight grip clips.
colors : brown, clear, black

02 - maybelline dream matte mousse : this product i have been urging to try for the past couple of weeks now. i have seen some youtubers use this product, and decided to try it out for myself. i ended up using it tonight, and ohmygawd you guys i fell head over tory burch heels for this! my new favorite foundation, love the color and the smell!
color : light (2)
03 - maybelline 24 hr color tattoo metal : so i have used one of these before, and thought i would love it. yes i did love the product, just not the color i selected... i mean i do still wear that one (it was taupe) but this one had me for sure (sorry you can't see it from the photo) but it is a beautiful champaign shimmer shadow, that makes your eyelids look stunning!
color : 70 barely branded

04 - sally hansen insta dry nail polish : this is my absolute favorite top coat in the world!! if you know me personally, you know i am so impatient, and a slight perfectionist. so with a perfect manicure i need the perfect quick dry top coat to make everything perfect. i lalalalove this so much!!
color : 110 clearly quick

05 - not your mothers beach babe texturizing cream : if that wasn't a mouthful, let me give you one on this product! this product is a mermaids hair in a tube. i thought that my bumble and bumble sea spray was out of the ocean, i was confirmed to be wrong after i squeezed out some of this product! it smells delicious, just like summer!! perfect for a lazy summer hair day, sign me up!!

NY STREET STYLE; MY KIND OF NAILS

Inspired by one of Lindsey's recent posts of her favorite Essie Nail Polishes, for my post today, I've decided to share with you my favorite Butter London Polishes!
Butter London is one of my favorite nail brands- their polishes not only come in cool rectangular bottles, but also have an extremely fluid consistency and high pigmentation.

My first favorite is Macbeth (if you're aware of my Shakespeare obsession, no surprise here with the name..). This is a beautiful and bright hot pink-red color that I love for spring and summer. If you're like me and aren't a huge fan of pink nail polish, this is a great stepping stone for it's a mix between a red and a hot pink.

My second favorite would have to be Jaffa. I love neon nails for the summer, and although it's hard to tell how bright this color is in the photo above, it's a lovely neony-orange. It's great for summer as well, for it looks especially nice with a tan!

Wallis is another one of my favorites, its a cool metallic-y goldish/ dark green/blue. It's actually pretty impossible to describe this color and that's why I think its so cool. It's shimmery, deep, and sleek.

The Black Knight is one of my favorite polishes of all time! It's a black polish with a lot of purple iridescent glitter. I personally would wear this color just about any time of year!

And finally, another one of my all time favorites, British Racing Green. This is a deep forest green that I absolutely love wearing in the fall and winter. This polish is extremely popular and actually is a favorite of tons of fashion icons.

Check out Butter London's site here!
& my last blog post here!

Cheers! x
